This work is of special significance to us it gives us an independent window onto members of the Essex circle. The book is a severe libel on Penelope Rich it also attacks other members of the Essex circle including William Shakespeare.
This work allows us to name the protagonists in the sonnets and date the sequence of events.
This work is describing the same sequence of Events that are described in Richard Barnfields Affectionate Shepherd which was released less than two months later. I believe both texts to be libels and were both written by Richard Barnfield. They represent the ONLY independent confirmation in all of Elizabethan literature of the events depicted in Shakespeares sonnets. The poetic style of this author and his personal profile match that of Richard Barnfield. The publisher of this libel was John Windet . He was not a disreputable publisher and in 1603 became the official printer to the city of London.
