Leez Priory
Ariel view of Leez Priory . The priory is the central L shaped building To its west lies the crystal well. To its East a Plain and the Remnants of the Augustinian Priory (The castle built by ancient shepherds the monks were the Shepherds of souls ) Some of the original structures of Leez Priory including the great gateway are still remaining and are very ancient circa 1220. To the right of the castle like tower is where the ruins of a large Monastic Castle used to stand. This castle was entirely removed in 1735 . It is very clear that this is exactly the same layout as Avisa's house that is described in the poem Willobie His Avisa. Even the geographical directions of landmarks exactly correspond to those described in the poem. The poem states Avisa's house is situated with a well to its West and an ancient castle to its East .
