Charles Blount 8th Baron Mountjoy. (1563-1606) Penelope's long term lover and eventual husband He is the Fourth Suitor of Willobie His Avisa (Dydimus Harco) The poem correctly states that Avisa has known him for exactly ten summers ( the summer of 1594 was the tenth). The poem correctly predicts that Avisa will chose this suitor over all others. This suitor specifically calls Avisa Penelope. The poem states that this suitor was constantly travelling and he pays Avisa a quick visit then departs again. This was correct Charles was constantly travelling for most of his life. He returned to England in the winter of 1593 then almost immediately in December 1593 was posted to Portsmouth. Charles Blount's relationship with Penelope Rich started to become public knowledge as early as 1590 when Penelope wore his colours on accession day jousting tournament.
